CITYHOME (patterns)
My main motivation is to attempt to draw inspiration from my surroundings, to observe the city and its buildings and build ideas and patterns from this. I will thus be attempting to integrate the exterior world into the interior, in order to build a reflexive dialogue between the two domains, set against this mise-en-abyme. In order to achieve this goal, I aim to work a lot with symmetry and geometric shapes; to translate hard materials into soft fabrics; to build my own fabrics which convey a sense of the strong, rigid urban environment. Each textile can act as a building and these textiles can group together to form a cityscape inside a building which itself forms part of a city.
